Nishtha Sharma is a postdoctoral scholar in the Economics department of the New York University in Abu Dhabi. She uses a combination of applied microeconomic theory and experiments to study questions in political and labor economics. Nishtha is particularly interested in finding the causes and solutions to tackle economic discrimination. She received her PhD. in Economics from the University of California, Irvine, in 2022.

Nishtha worked at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a Summer Intern in 2021. She worked with the Strategy, Policy, and Review Department at IMF, where she studied the impact of gender inequality on global macroeconomic conditions.
