Vaibhav Kumar received the BE degree in electronics and telecommunications engineering from CSVTU, Bhilai, India, in 2012, the MTech degree in electronics and communications engineering from The LNM Institute of Information  Technology, Jaipur, India, in 2015, and the PhD degree in electronic engineering from University College Dublin, Ireland, in 2020. 

From 2012 to 2013, he worked as a Lecturer with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Raipur, India. From 2015 to 2016, he worked as a Project Associate in the project entitled “Mobile broadband service support over cognitive radio networks,” funded by Media Lab Asia, Government of India. He was a visiting research student with the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India, from January 2019 to May 2019, under the Erasmus+ICM research program. From September 2020 to December 2020, he was working with Beijing-Dublin International College (BDIC) as an Adjunct Lecturer. From April 2020 to August 2023, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University College Dublin, Ireland. He joined New York University Abu Dhabi in September 2023 as a Postdoctoral Associate. 

He is a recipient of the Best Paper Award at IEEE GLOBECOM 2021, and the Exemplary Reviewer Award from the IEEE Communications Letter in 2022. He is an Area Editor for Physical Communication (Elsevier). His research interests broadly span wireless communications and signal processing. Some recent topics of his research include reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, physical layer security, and integrated sensing and communication.
