Jose Soto is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of transport behaviour and sustainable mobility at New York University Abu Dhabi. He holds a PhD in Engineering Sciences from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, where his doctoral research focused on modeling choice heuristics and understanding the relationship between cognitive effort, choice consistency, thinking styles, and information attendance.
His research examines how behavioral and attitudinal factors shape transport choices and how these insights can inform the design of sustainable and inclusive mobility policies. His work has been published in leading international journals such as Accident Analysis & Prevention, Transportation Research Part A, Transportation Research Part D, and the Journal of Transport Geography, among others. Before joining NYU Abu Dhabi, Soto held academic and consulting positions in Chile and Colombia, contributing to projects on transport demand modeling, road safety analysis, and sustainable logistics systems.
