Patrick Commins

Patrick Commins was born in California in the United States of America. He received his BS (2007) in biochemistry and a MS (2008) in organic chemistry from the University of California, San Diego. In 2009 he interned as a synthetic medicinal chemist for the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation. He earned his PhD in 2014 in organic chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles by studying the physical properties of crystalline molecular machines and solid state photochemistry in the Garcia-Garibay group. His research interests include the synthesis of organic small molecules and the investigation of their solid state reactivity to external stimuli.
