Artificial intelligence has evolved from rule-based systems programmed to follow explicit instructions to models that learn patterns from vast amounts of data. This talk traces that transformation and explains how modern large language models are trained to generate, summarize, translate, and reason with text. It also examines the limitations of these systems, including why they can produce confident but inaccurate responses. The discussion concludes by exploring the data, computing power, and investment needed to develop and operate today’s AI technologies. *Registrants will receive a QR code to access the campus.
