This second regional reef monitoring workshop brings together regional reef specialists to exchange past survey data and establish a standardized reef monitoring and data archival approach to implement moving forward. The objective is to strengthen regional collaboration and survey data interoperability, focusing on regional reef data collected over the past five years. The workshop updates participants on the latest findings from the regional assessment of coral reefs for the ICRI Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network (GCRMN) and the forthcoming 2025 regional and global reef status reports. We present new results from our expanded regional monitoring dataset and validate regional reef modeling results with the expertise of participants. Additionally, we introduce the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems assessment process, which will be applied to regional coral reefs in the coming months, seeking expert input on potential subregions, indicators, and criteria for inclusion.
