Keynote

WHEN May 5, 2022
4-5:30 PM WHERE NYU Abu Dhabi WHO Humanities Research Fellowships for the Study of the Arab World Open to the Public

This keynote lecture is dedicated to the fascinating history of the Qur’an on the Iberian Peninsula. The lecture will introduce us to a world in which Arabic books and Arabic speakers who were familiar with the Qur’an and its exegesis coexisted with Christian scholars. It will discuss different features and uses of the Qur’an on Iberian soil, how it was read and interpreted by Muslim, Christians and converts alike, and how it was preserved, and translated, as well as contested and polemicized against in a fragmented and changing religious landscape.
