This talk focuses on Syrian women refugees, scattered in countries around Syria as well as in Europe. Women’s voices have historically been silenced in Syria and other parts of the Middle East. They need to be heard. Their memories need to be saved from oblivion, as women hold our society together, and memory is the fabric with which the future is made. As Samar Yazbek explains, recording memory is an act of resistance, and through it, we will be able to deconstruct this war and identify the true sources of what we need to call “evil.”

تسلط هذه المحاضرة الضوء على اللاجئات السوريات المنتشرات في بلدان حول سوريا، وفي أوروبا. وعبر التاريخ أُسكتت أصوات النساء في سوريا وأجزاء أخرى من الشرق الأوسط، ولذلك فإننا اليوم بحاجة لأن نسمعهن، حيث يجب حفظ ذكرياتهن من النسيان، باعتبار أن النساء هن من يحمين المجتمعات من التفكك، والذاكرة هي النسيج الذي يُحاك به المستقبل. ويعد تسجيل الذاكرة بمثابة عمل مقاومة، ستساعدنا على تفكيك هذه الحرب وتحديد المنابع الحقيقية لما وجب تسميته "بالشر". تعتمد هذه المحاضرة على البحث الذي أجرته المحاضرة لـكتاب تسع عشرة امرأة- سوريات يروين، وكذلك البحث الذي تجريه حالياً لكتابها القادم، إضافة لتجربتها الشخصية الغنية مع المنظمة غير الحكومية النساء الآن، والتي تم إنشاؤها في عام 2012
