As a senior UK government adviser, Sir John Bell shares his unique perspective on how the UK and the world have dealt with the Covid-19 pandemic. He reviews both the challenges and successes—including the development of the Oxford/AstraZeneca and other vaccines, new treatments, genomic sequencing, and mass testing. He reflects on the lessons learned and the shifting concerns as the nature of the impact of the pandemic changes in time. Finally, he discusses what comes next and how these lessons have the potential to impact and improve public health in the future.
