WHEN June 30, 2021
8 PM WHERE Zoom Part of "Navigating Digital Identities" WHO NYU Abu Dhabi Art Gallery Open to the Public

Join a conversation about inequities and biases in the digital space with not … a line artist Zach Blas and Associate Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Co-Founder and Co-Director of the UCLA Center for Critical Internet Inquiry (C2i2), Safiya Noble. The discussion will focus on algorithmic biases and the resulting inequity in diverse and inclusive digital identities. Additionally, both speakers will touch on imbalances and issues around financial and class statuses in the arts based on their personal perspectives.

This program is organized with support from NYU Abu Dhabi’s Office of Inclusion and Equity, and accompanies the virtual exhibition not in, of, along, or relating to a line. In the virtual exhibition, nine artists and art collectives make visible both the restrictions and the freedoms of digital culture, and explore how identities and histories are created, transformed, or invented through our relationship with technology. Learn more about the exhibition.
