About GEN
The Girls' Education Network (GEN) is a signature youth engagement program hosted by NYUAD Community Outreach.
GEN is a leadership development program that aims to create inclusive, supportive spaces that enable dialogue and foster an exploration of practices such as self-awareness, empathetic listening, collaboration, and design thinking. GEN invites young girls in Abu Dhabi to cultivate a deeper understanding of themselves in order to mindfully and impactfully engage with the world around them.
The program is a Dalai Lama award-winning curriculum and uses a peer-to-peer learning model where female university students from NYUAD serve as facilitators for the learning workshops. The student facilitators will work with a small group of participants using Zoom.
About the Workshop Series
The GEN program curriculum includes four mandatory workshops. Youth participants and facilitators will explore the components of leadership (self and community) over the course of the four workshops. A portion of the program will cover challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of leadership. Please note that participants must be available to attend all four workshop dates listed below to complete the program. This semester, the program will take place entirely online over Zoom.
