Founded in 2013, #BlackLivesMatter has gained renewed momentum in the global public consciousness in recent months. In this Race, Diversity, and the Learning Community event, the NYUAD Institute is screening NYU’s event with co-founder Opal Tometi online, and warmly invite you to join a follow-up conversation between Vice Chancellor Mariët Westermann, and NYU Professors Deborah Willis and Pamela Newkirk. This discussion will build off of their earlier talk with Opal Tometi, examining the global movement, its focus on justice and healing, and what it means to teach a Black Lives Matter class today.
