The workshop discusses the findings of the long-term research initiative Learning from Gulf Cities, developed by Harvey Molotch and Davide Ponzini. The collaboration involves numerous scholars from various parts of the world, oriented toward urban issues of the Gulf region. The project strives to identify sources of impact as well as the ways Gulf cities have their own impacts elsewhere. Three discussants - Francesca Arici (Omran - Oman Tourism Development Company), Farah al Nakib (Center for Gulf Studies at the American University of Kuwait), Kais Sammarai (Economic Cities Authority, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) and Nelida Fuccaro (NYUAD) respond to issues raised in the forthcoming volume from NYU Press, Learning from Gulf Cities, edited by Molotch and Ponzini.
