A deep look into the natural, technological, and theoretical worlds, from the smallest molecule to the furthest reaches of space and everything in between at the Gulf’s premiere science film festival. Presenting new works spanning documentary, fiction, and experimental film, Imagine Science Films showcases the best of the global intersection between science and art.
The festival will bring together the most exciting scientific and science-inspired short and feature films, video installations, and much more from the UAE, the MENA region, and beyond, while additional events like panel discussions, Q&As, talks, workshops, and performances with top artists, scientists, and filmmakers expand the conversation directly with the audience. Imagine Science Films will lead up to the festival by promoting film and science throughout the region through talks, collaborations, and outreach.
The film festival will be accompanied by an exhibition at the NYU Abu Dhabi Project Space spotlighting cutting edge Sci-Art.
Our mission is to bridge the gap between art and science through film, thereby transforming the way science is communicated to the public and encouraging collaboration across disciplines. Together scientists, who dedicate their lives to studying the world in which we live, and filmmakers, who interpret and expose this knowledge, can make science accessible and stimulating to the broadest possible audience. Imagine Science Films is committed to drawing attention to the sciences, whether it is through art or our community outreach efforts.
Imagine Science Abu Dhabi is a new initiative, launched in 2015 with the opening of the NYUAD Arts Center, to create a dialogue between scientists and artists in Abu Dhabi and the broader region. It hosts the annual Imagine Science Abu Dhabi Film Festival in addition to art-science lectures, special screenings, and workshops at NYUAD.
