Falconry history has left many traces, which are to be found on one large stretch of land from Western Europe and Northern Africa in the West to Japan in the East. This wealth of very colourful materials is worth the study of both scientists and falconers. The lecture program brings together leading international speakers with different backgrounds, including falconers. The lectures give a vivid insight into the history of falconry that must be kept in mind when appreciating this kind of hunting as a ‘living human heritage’ (cf. UNESCO´s Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage).
