How do Shakespeare’s plays engage with concepts of the “global” in his own moment, and what can the vibrant cultures of early modern theater teach us about the future of the field of Global Shakespeare? This workshop explores the relationship between Shakespeare’s dramatic texts and early modern practices of performance, and their ongoing relevance to current critical work in Global Shakespeare.
