Why are some people happier than others?

Talk

6:30-8 PM WHERE NYUAD Campus, Conference Center WHO NYU Abu Dhabi Institute Open to the Public

Happy people are healthy people. Happy people live longer, function better, and are less susceptible to mental illness. But, why are some people happier than others? This talk discusses the causes of individual differences in happiness and subjective well-being, including results from twin-family studies, the first genetic variant for subjective well-being and the first epigenetic findings. It seeks to put these scientific breakthroughs into perspective and explain the applicability of these results for the health and well-being of the population at large.
