Is There a Visual Intelligence?

Talk

WHEN January 28, 2016
6:30-8 PM WHERE NYUAD Campus, Conference Center WHO NYU Abu Dhabi Institute Open to the Public

When looking at the world, we think that we see all there is to see, but there are surprising differences in our ability to recognize faces and objects. While everyone knows that people vary greatly in terms of cognitive skills and personality, we seem to be under the illusion that anyone with sufficient training, and normal acuity and motivation, could learn to identify birds, match fingerprints, or identify mushrooms. This talk reviews recent developments in creating a new science of visual intelligence.
