From 1953 to 1958, Abu Dhabi witnessed a race against the clock to drill for oil. Through photographs, film and a soundtrack of '50s Arabic and Western popular music, this talk tells the story of oilmen and sheikhs, an English housewife, a New York socialite, an Old Etonian poet, two Oscar winning film directors, and a four year old girl called Deborah, during Abu Dhabi’s quest for oil.
