Details on the companion public program are forthcoming This workshop brings scholars together to consider the current state of theoretical models and methodological approaches to the study of cultural mobility, integration and distinction, and transformation. Participants contemplate big framing issues surrounding spatial units, chronological frames, categories of analysis, and social agency, as well as consider current approaches to analyzing specific sites of cultural conglomeration and particular integrative institutions, technologies, and practices in the Indian Ocean context.
