Normativity and Reasoning III

Workshop

WHERE Abu Dhabi WHO NYU Abu Dhabi Institute By Invitation Interested scholars please contact nyuad.programs@nyu.edu

See January 18 for companion public program Reasoning seems to be a uniquely human activity; it is therefore of great philosophical significance. Yet it is not at all clear how we do it. This workshop explores our capacity to reason by focusing on the fact that reasoning is governed by norms; it can go well or badly. What are these norms? How might they be discovered, and how do they guide us? What, if anything, ultimately underwrites their authority?
