Nations have long leveraged art to promote the exchange of ideas, traditions, and mutual understanding as well as national interests. How the UAE and USA are deploying cultural ambassadors today? Past Forward: Contemporary Art from the Emirates is a groundbreaking cultural diplomacy exhibition that tells the story of the UAE’s rich history, culture and rapid development through 50 paintings, sculptures, and other artwork by 25 notable Emirati artists. Mary McBride is a celebrated American musician who has brought her voice, described by The New York Times as “part angel, part truck driver,” to more than twenty countries including Russia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Indonesia. The evening begins with a discussion on the experiences of two key cultural envoys from the UAE and US respectively, followed by the outdoor concert by Mary McBride.
Simultaneous Arabic intepretation will be provided during the panel.
