Produced and directed by Gwyneth Bravo with the technical support of REZN8's Paul Sidlo and featuring a live performance by Gabriel Vamvulescu (recitation) and Steven Vanhauwaert (piano), this multimedia production presents Rainer Maria Rilke’s 1899 work about the love and death of a young soldier during the Ottoman-Habsburg Wars of the 17th century against a filmic backdrop. The production re-imagines the theater and concert hall as a cinematic space where the film presents a kaleidoscope of slowly shifting montage images that serve as a visual counterpoint to the dramatic performance and music.

Twelve excerpts from Rilke’s poem The Lay of Love and Death of the Cornet Christopher Rilke (1899) with music for speaker and piano.
