On Site is an exhibition of contemporary art that takes the location of Saadiyat Island as its starting point. Focusing on landscape and the built environment, these artworks foreground cues that we use to establish where we are — what signals a “lush garden” or a “desert island,” how do we read a site as “historic” or “new”?
This is the inaugural show for the new Art Gallery of NYUAD. The range of artists serves to link the gallery to multiple contemporary art communities, local and international.
On Site is the first exhibition in a multi-year program planned for the gallery, which will present curated exhibitions of art and material culture across historical and contemporary topics, with a special emphasis on subjects of both regional concern and international significance.
