Transforming Settings for Children and Youth: : Towards A Global Science and Practice

Conference

WHEN January 8-9, 2014
WHERE Abu Dhabi WHO NYU Abu Dhabi Institute By Invitation Interested scholars please contact nyuad.programs@nyu.edu

See January 8 for companion public program Families, schools, communities: these are the “settings” in which children all around the world carry out their daily routines. These are also the settings that have the power to profoundly influence children’s health, education, and well-being. This conference brings together a diverse group of experts to further the emergent science and practice of designing and evaluating programs and policies aimed at transforming such settings to promote children’s development globally. Discussions focus in particular on identifying state-of-the-art school-based change initiatives that evidence and theory suggest can encourage children’s cognitive and socio-emotional learning even in the most adverse contexts.
