This evening performance of music and poetry explores parallel legends and narratives of the medieval European and Middle Eastern traditions: transformation and metamorphosis in the human and animal kingdoms, evocations of iconic lovers, and excerpts from the stories of a meta-hero, Alexander the Great. Musical sources include manuscripts of the French Middle Ages and oral traditions of Turkey, Iraq, and Greece.
