The Abu Dhabi Guide: Modern Architecture, 1968-1992 published by FIND, an NYUAD supported research project, documents thirty buildings through fieldwork, interviews, and archival work. This panel discussion features one of the guide’s authors, the guide’s editor, and the architect/author of Dubai: Behind an Urbanist Spectacle (Routledge 2010). Together they explore the little known modernist heritage of Abu Dhabi and address the complex issue of architectural preservation. They discuss how the city radically transformed over four decades, what modern influences resonate within its landscape, and which events and people helped shape our built environment.
Simultaneous Arabic interpretation is provided.
