See October 21 for companion public event Waterpipe (or hookah) use is very common throughout the Arab world, and is increasing rapidly in many other regions. This conference brings together waterpipe researchers from across the globe to synthesize current knowledge of health, social, and economic aspects of waterpipe tobacco smoking. In seeking to build a platform for future research collaborations locally and regionally, conveners plan to organize a follow-up conference and to present findings from these collaborations at the 2015 World Conference on Tobacco or Health to be held in Abu Dhabi.
