The Arab-Islamic civilization had a powerful impact on the cultural, political, and religious development of Europe during the time of the Renaissance. Contrary to the generally accepted idea that the interest in Arab culture and science gradually declined after the medieval transmissions from Arabic into Latin, this conference argues that the early modern period is indeed characterized by a new European interest in Arab culture, science, and religion.
