Nanoporous coordination polymers (NPCs) have already found widespread use, but there remains a need to add complexity to their extended structures. By targeting a range of NPCs--from those based on petrochemical feedstocks to those constructed from natural products--molecular recognition can be introduced. This talk also focuses on the fundamental understanding of NPCs; draws attention to potential applications in separation science and energy storage, and catalysis and nanoelectronics; and looks at the importance of NPCs in food, home, personal care, and pharmaceutical industries.
