Joane Savio Visiting Professor of Film and New Media, NYUAD
Reem Al Ghaith’s work spans several media, including graphic design and printmaking as well as photography. Since her first exhibition in 2008, Al Ghaith has garnered international attention, with exhibitions in New York, Germany, and Australia as well as in her native United Arab Emirates. Most recently she was featured in the Sharjah Biennial 9 (U.A.E) and the 54th Venice Biennale. Her work, Held Back, is on view at 19 Washington Square North. In conjunction with the exhibition, Al Ghaith will discuss with Joanne Savio her exhibited photographs in light of her role as an emerging female artist in the United Arab Emirates.
