Digital animators have succeeded marvelously in animating bodies, crowds, battle scenes, plastic toys, and so forth. But the goal of a realistic, credible human face, in motion and what's more emoting, continues to elude them. For some time, many have wondered whether the goal is even theoretically attainable: the face after all being "the seat of the soul," and a soul being beyond digitization.
