For over two decades, the Horn of Africa has faced devastating political instability and natural disasters, creating a dire humanitarian situation. Currently in Somalia, up to four million people, one third of the population, are in need of immediate humanitarian assistance. Many non-governmental and regional bodies are working in the region to bring about political stability, economic renewal and famine relief. Leading the charge is His Excellency Jerry Rawlings, who will address the larger efforts to end the humanitarian crisis in Somalia and the Horn of Africa and what still needs to be done.
