Alms for a Blind Horse/Anhey Gorhey da Daan
In the harsh reality of life in a small village in Punjab a large company destroys a home. Despite their anger, the villagers stand still, supervised by police while the demolition takes place. Later, the people convene to give voice to their frustration, but deep down they know that things are beyond their control. Haunting and beautiful cinematography augments Singh's film, a siren that points to the latent violence that resides in those who see no possibility of a better life. (Director: Gurvinder Singh | India | 2011 | 112 mins | Punjabi w/ English subtitles)
