A Bicycle Built for Two: Humans and Computers Making Music Together

Talk

WHEN May 4, 2011
2:30-4:30 PM WHERE Al Mamoura Auditorium, Abu Dhabi WHO Open to the Public

While technology has always pushed the boundaries of human musical practice, the Digital Age presents opportunities to radically redefine the roles of performer, instrument, composer and audience—not to mention the definition of music itself. This talk will explore some of the ways that programming languages, mobile and sensor hardware, and machine learning are shaping the future of human musical experience. Several live demonstrations will also showcase current technologies developed at Princeton University to enable new ways of composing, performing and teaching about music.
