In The Silence of the Palace, recently named Minister of Culture of Tunisia,director Moufida Tlatli traces the story of Alia, a servant’s daughter, and explores the last days of French rule in Tunisia and the resulting aristocracy. Hend Sabri, a star of Egyptian cinema, gives an emotional performance as Alia, remembering and recalling her childhood days in a prince’s palace.
