The Cinema Chats Film Series is held in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Film Festival.

In The Silence of the Palace, recently named Minister of Culture of Tunisia,director Moufida Tlatli traces the story of Alia, a servant’s daughter, and explores the last days of French rule in Tunisia and the resulting aristocracy. Hend Sabri, a star of Egyptian cinema, gives an emotional performance as Alia, remembering and recalling her childhood days in a prince’s palace. Through the presentation of her memories, the secrets and confusion riddling the end of a colonial era are revealed.
