MFA in Art and Media

Application and Admissions Process

Applications are now open for Fall 2024.
  Priority Deadline - February 15, 2024
  Final Deadline - April 15, 2024

  • Your bachelor’s degree does not have to be in the arts, but your application should demonstrate the mastery needed to engage effectively with graduate-level work in this program.

  • To be eligible for admission to an NYUAD master's program, an applicant needs to have completed the equivalent of a four-year US bachelor's degree. Official transcripts certifying conferral of a bachelor’s degree are required before the student can start the program.
A three-year degree is usually acceptable to be considered for admission to an NYUAD master's program if the applicant completed 13 years of school before completing the three-year degree. For example, most 3-year degrees from the UK and Europe are acceptable. We are not able to provide a definite answer before evaluating the applicant's transcripts

In addition to the information below, the online application provides instructions to guide you. All sections of the application and the required supporting documents must be submitted online by the deadline. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Do not submit any hard copy materials to NYU Abu Dhabi as part of the application process.

If you have any difficulties with the online application, please email the graduate admissions office (nyuad.graduateadmissions@nyu.edu) from the email address associated with your application.

After submitting the application, you will not be able to change or add information. You will receive a link to the Application Status Portal where you can track the status of your application.

Funding Your Degree

In order to complete a master’s degree you will need to make a large investment with your time, effort, and funds. In recognition of this personal investment, NYU Abu Dhabi strives to provide merit-based scholarships for students admitted to this program. Needs-based grants are also available and are allocated after determining a student's financial need. Taking into consideration merit and financial need, NYUAD funding can cover up to 100% of the tuition and fees.

Over the past three years, the top ranked admitted applicants were offered NYUAD scholarships and grants covering 80-100% of tuition and fees.

NYUAD funding does not cover travel, housing or living expenses during the program. For that reason, applicants should start budgeting now. Applicants should be confident that their personal and external funding will cover the remaining costs of tuition and their living expenses during this full-time program.

If you would like to discuss your budget for studying in this program, please contact the Graduate Admissions office: nyuad.graduateadmissions@nyu.edu
