Join the talented puppeteers behind Kid Koala’s The Storyville Mosquito for an exclusive, hands-on masterclass led by renowned puppeteer Patrick Martel. This immersive workshop offers participants a unique opportunity to learn professional puppetry techniques directly from one of the field’s leading experts.
Under Patrick’s guidance, participants work with the actual puppets featured in the performance, gaining practical experience and insight into the artistry, precision, and collaboration that bring complex puppet characters to life on stage.
Recommended for participants aged 18+ with intermediate to professional experience in puppetry.
Patrick Martel
Patrick Martel is a puppeteer, a director and a set and puppet designer. He created many theatre productions and television series, involving different styles of puppetry. He studied the art of Bunraku with Japanese masters. He teaches at UQAM, for the post-graduate diploma in contemporary puppet theatre. The Arlyn Award Society awarded him a commendation for his puppet design work on À nous deux!, in 2004. For over 25 years now, he has collaborated with numerous companies, including the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, Cirque Éloize, Glyndebourne Opera Festival and Cirque du Soleil. He is now at his third project with Kid Koala.
