Movement and Music: Technique Workshop

Past Event

Led by Abhijeet Tambe and Suresh Kaliyath, this workshop examines the connection between music and movement, with a focus on creating movement sequences to rhythm. The artists will present a short improvisation followed by exercises, giving participants an opportunity to work in groups to create their own movement phrases. Participants are encouraged to bring a musical instrument. This workshop is also open to non-musicians.

Biographies

Abhijeet Tambe

Abhijeet Tambe is a multi-faceted musician and sound designer based out of Bangalore, India. He composes music and soundscapes for theatre, film and movement pieces. He is also a singer-songwriter, and in that avatar he performs solo as well with the support of a band depending on the call of the hour.

Suresh Kaliyath

Suresh Kaliyath is a performing artist and Instructor specialised in Traditional Art forms of Kerala, India and Contemporary theatre practice. He had a long association with Adishakti Laboratory for Theatre Art Research, Puducherry and is currently associated with Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed University for Art & Culture, Thrissur as an Instructor/Performer. Trained in the art forms of Thullal [Ottan, Sheetangan & Parayan Thullal], Bharathanatyam, Mizhavu [Traditional Percussion Instrument] and Contemporary Theatre, Suresh choreographed, directed and performed many Thullal stories and Theatre productions.
