In this workshop, Vandana Menon and Abhishek Majumdar will present their working process, from research to the creation of their collaborative projects. Participants will work in groups and function as either directors or dramaturgs. They will be led through exercises that develop a working process for a sample theater piece.

Biographies

Abhishek Majumdar

Abhishek Majumdar is a playwright, theater director, and Scenographer. Currently he is the Artistic Director of Nalanda Arts Studio , Bangalore and a Professor of Theater at NYU Abu Dhabi.

Vandana Menon

Vandana Menon is a filmmaker, interdisciplinary visual artist, researcher and faculty in the non-fiction department at the Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design & Technology in Bangalore, India. Her work ranges from documentaries and experimental films to live visual performances and with the mediums of video, sound, animations and interactive technology. Across the subcontinent and in London, Istanbul and Germany her multi-disciplinary work has extended into collaborations with film-makers, theatre practitioners, musicians, dancers, architects and software engineers. Her films have been screened at film festivals in New Zealand, Liverpool and South Asia.
