About Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra

Since its establishment in 1994 by Riad Kudsi, Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra has inspired and engaged artists through a series of classical and contemporary performances. A Czech national of Syrian origin, Kudsi began learning violin at the age of seven and went on to join the National Conservatory of Aleppo, becoming one of its most promising violinists. He studied at the National Conservatory in Prague between 1970 and 1974, before continuing his studies at the Higher Academy of Music where he received a masters degree with distinction. Since graduation, Kudsi has performed numerous violin concerts as a soloist, motivating him to open up a conservatory of his own in the UAE, where he relocated in 1986.

During his 33 years in the Emirates, Kudsi has contributed towards the development of music culture in the region through teaching, practical training, organising cultural and charitable music events, through his establishment of the Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra and the annual Emirates Peace Music Festival, which debuted in 2004.
