A modern view of music from the past 3 centuries.
Explore the interactions between voice, flute, piano and electronics across the music of 3 centuries. From the Rococo wit of JS Bach’s intimate ‘Coffee’ and ‘Chocolate’ cantatas to virtuoso solo works for voice and flute, the evening showcases the complex musical languages of the late 20th century.
Works performed include 4 Gulf premieres and feature pieces by two NYUAD composers (Carlos Guedes and David Lesser). The concert culminates with Luciano Berio’s hypnotic ‘Altra Voce’ for alto flute, soprano and live electronics, accompanied by a specially created film by NYUAD student Harshini Karunaratne.
