Get down to the disco sounds of the late 70’s Philippines in a celebration of Filipino popular music.

Dancing queens and global crate-diggers, get down to the disco sounds of the late 70’s and early 80’s Philippines and embrace the Manila Sound. Spanky Rigor and Roger Rigor, co-founders of VST & Company, and The Union [featuring Jet Montelibano (formerly of “Music & Magic”), Jessica Casas (formerly of “Something Special”), Nino de Jesus, Jo-ann Visitacion, Fulton Montoya] lead a celebration of Filipino Disco. Rooted in an amalgam of American soul, funk, and disco origins, this euphoric dance music mixed with Filipino melodic traditions, filtered through the warm glow of the Manila Sound.

After the stars come out on Thursday night, the audience takes center stage on Friday afternoon, singing choice dance tunes from the rich and groovy Disco Manila catalogue in a special live band karaoke.

DISCO MANILA LIVE BAND KARAOKE

How to take part:

Step 1. Come dressed to be a star.

Step 2. Arrive by 3pm on the day of the show. (Registration is from 3pm to 3:30pm. Showtime is 4pm.)

Step 3. Give your name and choose your song at the registration table (near the stage on the east plaza).

Step 4. Sing your heart out.

Space is limited so please arrive early.

A panel of judges and then the audience will choose the best singer. Are you the best?

From Abu Dhabi to Saadiyat take the public bus 192 to the last stop (Saadiyat public beach – bus stop #9). From there we have arranged a free shuttle service to the NYU Abu Dhabi campus at the following times:

Getting back to Abu Dhabi

From the NYUAD campus, pick-up from A6 building to the bus station next to Al Wahda Mall at the following times:

- 9:30pm

- 9:45pm

- 10:00pm

A Performance Workshop on Stage Presence

Calling all performers, actors, singers, dancers and public speakers, come on over and take part in a workshop designed to help you develop your stage presence. The workshop will be delivered by Jet Montelibano of Disco Manila. Jet will work with the group to turn performance anxiety into an asset instead of a liability.

A Vocal Masterclass with Disco Manila

Join the Disco Manila vocal masterclass for an inside experience with the artists of this exciting band. During the rehearsal, participants will have the opportunity to view the artists as they prepare for their performances. The participants will also have the chance to join the rehearsal along with the singers and musicians of the band.
