Community Access Program

Community Access to the NYUAD Library

As part of NYU Abu Dhabi’s mission to support the research and scholarship needs of the broader community, the NYUAD Library welcomes individuals with research needs to access its collections via the Community Access Program.

Members of the community are granted in-person access to the library to conduct research, study, and read using our collections, through an online application process, below. Community Access is granted on an annual basis.

To ensure the NYUAD Library contains the material most suitable to patrons’ work, applicants should include their area of research and, where possible, the specific resources they need. The available resources can be found by searching the library catalog.

NYUAD is committed to protecting the health and safety of our community while remaining focused on academic and research continuity and community building. As part of the university’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and safe return to campus, visitors must comply with the health and safety guidelines listed on the Requirements for Accessing Campus page, under Academic and Research Visitors.

Access to Archives and Special Collections

Community members who need to conduct research using primary source materials are also encouraged to visit the university’s Archives and Special Collections, which is the University's repository for rare books and archival materials, specialized subject collections, manuscripts, photographs, and map collections.

How to Access Archives and Special Collections

Submit questions and requests directly to Archives and Special Collections at nyuad-asc-group@nyu.edu. The Collection is open for in-person services by appointment only, and appointments should be made at least 48 business hours in advance.

I agree to act as a respectful and courteous member of the academic community while engaged in library research and in all interactions with faculty, staff and students of NYUAD.

I understand that access to all library resources and assets is governed by license agreements, copyright laws, and policies established by the library. I accept that priority and immediate access to resources will be reserved for NYUAD students, faculty, and authorized NYUAD affiliates, and agree that I will yield whenever my use of resources impedes use by these parties.

I understand that borrowing privileges and offsite electronic access are not included in the Community Access program.

Access to the library may be limited to certain hours or days of the week as established by the Library’s Senior Director. Every effort will be made to make Community Access visitors aware of any restrictions in availability.
