NYUAD students represent an extraordinary diversity of nationalities, ethnicities, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds. Each student is the type of young scholar who could be admitted to any of the world's leading colleges or universities.
We realize that higher education is a significant investment, and we are committed to attracting and educating exceptionally talented students from around the world. NYU Abu Dhabi provides financial support in the form of scholarships and grants. Every admitted student is also automatically considered for merit-based fellowships.
Our aim is to attract the best possible students regardless of financial circumstances. If you are admitted to NYU Abu Dhabi, our priority is to work with you and your family to make it possible for you to attend. NYU Abu Dhabi's Office of Financial Support will tailor the University's generous financial assistance to your individual needs. Financial support will ensure that the cost of attendance does not require you or your family to take on debt to support the cost of your education at NYU Abu Dhabi. Your family's finances should not affect your decision to select NYU Abu Dhabi, even if you are considering low- or no-cost public education alternatives, or are the recipient of generous financial support from another institution. In recognition of its highly-selective admissions process, and of the important role that NYUAD plays in shaping future world leaders, the Abu Dhabi government provides fellowships to all admitted UAE National students in the form of the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed NYUAD Scholarship for Exceptional Emirati Students.
All applicants who wish to receive need-based financial support must complete and submit the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE application by the appropriate deadline (see right). NYU Abu Dhabi accepts applications for financial support from all students, regardless of citizenship.
Financial support may cover up to the total cost of an NYU Abu Dhabi education. Learn how NYU Abu Dhabi's financial support applies to the cost of attendance.
Individualized Attention
NYU Abu Dhabi works individually with each student to assess his or her family financial circumstances and will issue notification of financial support in time for students to decide which college or university to attend, provided the required application and any subsequent documentation necessary to make an informed decision are submitted by the prescribed deadline.
Need-Blind Admissions
Admission to NYU Abu Dhabi is "need-blind;" that is, admissions decisions will be made without knowledge of a student's financial need.
Activities and Opportunities
To ensure that all students are able to engage in the complete spectrum of opportunities an NYU Abu Dhabi education offers, financial support is designed to cover up to the full cost of an NYU Abu Dhabi education, including tuition, foreign travel for study integral to a student's academic program, room and board, health insurance, personal expenses, books, and many Campus Life activities. It may also include up to two trips to and from home each year.
Financial Support Awards
New students who are eligible for NYUAD financial support will be notified of their awards at the time they are admitted, provided all document requirements and application deadlines are met. Students will receive financial support in the form of merit-based fellowships and/or need-based grants, and information on how to access their awards once available. The awards may be provided online via NYU Albert and/or via an award letter enclosed with the offer of admission. Students who have questions or concerns about their award are encouraged to contact the NYUAD Office of Financial Support.
Accepting the offer of admission is also an acceptance of the financial support award.
Renewal of Financial Support
In order to continue receiving financial support from NYU Abu Dhabi, enrolled students must complete and submit the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE application for renewal by the stated deadline each year that they are enrolled at NYU Abu Dhabi. Supporting documentation is typically required by the Office of Financial Support once the PROFILE data is received and reviewed.
Returning students should check NYU Albert, under the "To Do" list, to review any outstanding items associated with their financial support application and to confirm application status. Returning students can expect their awards to be available via NYU Albert by early July. Students can generally expect their awards to be similar to the prior year's award unless there has been a significant change in family financial circumstances. Awards are based upon full-time enrollment during fall and spring semesters, and attendance during the winter term when such attendance is required.
The entire cost of attendance is considered when renewing awards. This includes tuition, foreign travel for study integral to a student's academic program, room and board, health insurance, personal expenses, books, and many Campus Life activities. It may also include up to two trips to and from home each year. Students are encouraged to contact the Office of Financial Support if they have any questions or concerns about the application process or their award.
