NYU Abu Dhabi Welcomes 66 New Faculty

The new members of the community hail from world-class institutions from 20 different countries.

NYU Abu Dhabi has welcomed 66 highly accomplished and diverse scholars coming from some of the world's most ambitious academic and professional institutions to teach our students and continue their scholarship in the UAE.

The new hires include Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, a Nigerian playwright, poet and political activist, who has won international acclaim for his verse and novels. Considered among contemporary Africa’s greatest writers Soyinka is a towering figure in world literature where his scholarship encompasses drama, poetry, novels, music, film, and memoirs. Soyinka is the 1986 recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature.

The 66 faculty members begin work at NYUAD focusing on a range of subjects across all academic disciplines. The new members of the community hail from 20 different countries having held positions in some of the world’s leading teaching and research institutions including  Harvard University, University of Oxford, The National University of Singapore, and Stanford University. Their research ranges from ballet and coding robots to dance, to recreating a whole human body within a singular device.
