The NYUAD Global Ph.D. Student Fellowship
Students who would like to undertake research in biology, chemistry, and engineering with NYU Abu Dhabi faculty may now do so through the Global Ph.D. Student Fellowship program. The program is a collaboration between NYUAD and the NYU Graduate School of Arts and Science (GSAS) and the NYU School of Engineering.
Students who are admitted to the Global Ph.D. Student Fellowship program will spend the first year of graduate study completing coursework in their respective departments in New York. Students will spend the second and subsequent years working with faculty members in Abu Dhabi.
Prospective students in biology and chemistry apply through the standard NYU GSAS admission process, while engineering students apply to the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering. On both applications, applicants will have an option to express an interest in undertaking the research phase of the Ph.D. in Abu Dhabi with NYUAD faculty. Qualifying examinations, the formation of dissertation committees and graduation requirements will follow those of their NYUNY department.
Applications to the Global Ph.D. Student Fellowship program will be reviewed by joint committees comprised of faculty from GSAS or NYU-Poly and NYUAD departments. After review and short-listing, applicants may be invited to interview with faculty, either in person or via web conference. A student who is offered admission to the Fellowship program must apply for a UAE security clearance and visa before final enrollment in the program can be confirmed. If the student is not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, the student will receive I-20 student visa forms in May and apply for the US student visa prior to August 1 from their home country.
