حدث سابق

Toshi Reagon presents a powerful post-election evening as she gathers her community for a concert following the US Election. Filmed live at Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater (NY) on Nov 4, 2020.

Toshi Reagon’s concert version of Octavia E Butler’s Parable of the Sower opened the inaugural season of the The Arts Center, made its world premiere as a full opera in 2017, and was a highlight of this summer’s Reconnect series. Just added to the schedule, she returns to The Arts Center with a Sacred Transmission of her quadrennial Post-Election Day show, recorded live at Joe’s Pub the night after the US election. Extending the bridge between NYU’s Abu Dhabi and downtown NYC homes, through a powerful evening of song, Reagon and special guests will address the future of America, where the results of the election reverberate all the way to the UAE and the rest of the world.

Featuring an all-star lineup of guests including: Taina Asili, Michelle Dorrance, Morley w/ Chris Bruce, and Carl Hancock Rux, and artists you have come to know from Toshi Reagon’s previous residencies at The Arts Center: Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower (concert and opera versions) and Toshi Reagon with BIGLovely and Friends.

The streamed performance will be followed by a live Q&A with Toshi Reagon and The Arts Center’s Bill Bragin.
