Sounds dis/placed

Music Concert

An evening of eclectic journeys.

Electronic musician João Menezes and jazz musician Jesse Boere take you on an exploratory journey of sounds; some heard before, others only vaguely familiar. In this audio-visual performance they use landscapes of acoustic textures and manipulate these with electronic signals. Sounds you will think have rung for tens of thousands of years all across the planet, and sounds that only now find their place.

“This performance will feel like a trip: there is video throughout and the music consists of both musical phrasing and sound painting using an acoustic piano, voice, live electronics, and both live audio and live video processing” – Jesse Boere

“This performance was created from scratch and a lot of the arial footage was actually recently recorded in Iceland. The country is breathtaking and it inspired us to experiment with the idea of texture – from the minimalism of the elements to the splendor of untouched landscapes.” – João Menezes
