Nadine Hosny El Said

Nadine is an epigeneticist/biochemist. She graduated with Excellent and highest honors from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt (2008. Amongst the top of her class. She received her MSc in Biotechnology from the American University in Cairo (AUC) (2012), where she worked on a Red Sea Metagenomics project funded by KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) and a KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) fellowship in her last year of MSc. She joined KAUST in August 2013 and became the first Egyptian and Arab woman to earn a Ph.D. in environmental epigenetics from KAUST in 2019. In KAUST, she studied Polycomb proteins chromatin remodelers and the roles of lncRNA in myogenesis, plasticity, and somatic cells' response to oxidative stress. In 2019, She joined Professor Percipalle's lab as a postdoctoral research associate at NYUAD, focusing on stem cell reprogramming and how actin affects nuclear chromatin organization. In the lab, Nadine is interested in lncRNA, trying to decipher actin's role in chromatin remodeling and nuclear organization through epigenetics and epigenomics, how it may affect reprogramming and differentiation, and its possible therapeutic impact.
In 2020, she was elected as a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) advisory board at NYUAD, representing the voice of postdoctoral researchers at NYUAD. She then became a member of the Inclusion, Equity, and Action Committee (IEAC). Nadine is a New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS) ambassador and a mentor And Was among the pilot mentorship program carried out by NYUAD in 2020-2021.
